Hello Fun. Meet Reality.
Loving these collaged illustrations that pair wit and humor, creating a powerful violent/whimsical combination. Thanks to my lovely friend Nicole Brewer for sharing these gems with the world!
Sol Lewitt
So I'm back from a week long getaway to the Berkshires, refreshed and inspired. We took a trip over to Mass MoCA where we saw an exhibit by Sol Lewitt. An incredible artist and thinker, Lewitt created the majority of his works through instructions that spelled out how to create his wall drawings, relying on others to create the work for him. This exhibit will be on display for the next 25 years, so be sure to check it out!

Thank you...
...to everyone who came out last night to the Distillery Gallery in South Boston to celebrate the opening of Hypo Typo, a display of works incorporating various forms of text. The turnout was great and everyone's work looked amazing! Check it out if you're in the area- it's on display until July 15th!

“Hypo Typo“, opening June 24th, is an exhibit presenting a survey of artists which utilize text in 2D and 3D works. Curated by Snow Project, the show will feature a range of artwork created by artists of varying career stages. Though the premise is simple, the group of exhibitors is diverse in both background and approach to the exhibit’s criterion. Preexisting and new works created specifically for the exhibit will be included.
Snow Project represents the ongoing curatorial efforts of Boston-based artists Michael Dacey and Alex Feinstein. The venture began in 2008 with the “New Year’s Resolutions” series at the Washington Street Art Center in Somerville, MA. This series of enormously popular annual group exhibits includes “Draw Drawings Every Day” and “Hey I Know that Guy”.
Hypo Typo will include works by many local artists, including yours truly.
If you're in the Boston area...
I recently handpainted a sign for local artist Autumn Ahn who, with help from Other City Builders, Chorus Collective and Somerville Local First, completed the project for June 12th's SOMERFUN, an outdoor street festival in Somerville, MA. Carousel is 8’ high (10’ at its highest point) and has 4 faces that are 6’ deep. Each side has painted intersecting geometric shapes made from cut plywood & string. This installation was an experiment in visual perception for each side. Using the cast shadows available for reference, Autumn was able to play with natural light and arrange colors on the drawn prismatic shapes.
Carousel is up until June 30: one week left from today!

Love this little doodle by my friend Marco Depaolis. His drawings are great- super talented! You can check out his work through July 10th at the Fourth Wall Project at 132 Brookline Ave. in Boston.
